Service Description

Peg Dolls Kids Art Workshop The tradition of making peg dolls comes from a time when families had very little money to spend on toys. The word 'doll' didn't exist until the 18th century and evolved from the word 'Dorothy', before then, they were just called 'Toy Babies'. The first commercially produced peg dolls had the name 'Flanders Babies' and were made in the Netherlands. They were made completely from wood, had beautiful painted faces and moving body parts. In this adaptation we will use painted wooden beads, craft sticks and wool. Fabric will be used to create clothing. Children can create any characters they like-fairies, witches, super heroes. They could even create a miniature version of their own family. All workshops are at an introductory level. No previous experience is needed. Young artist age 5+ Drop off and pick up. No need for parents/carers to stay unless they want to. Workshop takes place at Catz Cabin 25 Mere Lane, Sandiway, Northwich, Cheshire Please send your child with a water bottle and a snack.
